Nanka Wakayama Kenjinkai Official Logo
Founded in 1911 by Japanese immigrants from Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, the Nanka Wakayama Kenjinkai (Southern California Wakayama Prefectural Association) keeps Wakayama spirit, pride and tradition alive in Southern California.  We are based in Los Angeles, California.

Our main events include our New Year's Party and our annual summer picnic. We also have a scholarship and ambassadorship program for graduating high school seniors of Wakayama ancestry.

Mission Statement: The purpose of this organization is to foster friendship among members, promote welfare of the Japanese American community, and further promote relationships between Japan and America.

About Wakayama Prefecture

Wakayama Prefecture, or Wakayama-ken, is a prefecture located in the Kansai region of Japan.  Home to about 989,983 people (as of April 2012), Wakayama-ken is also one of the most common places of ancestral origin for Nikkei Americans.  (If you are Japanese American, there is a high chance that your ancestors are from Wakayama!)

How can I join?

Joining the Nanka Wakayama Kenjinkai is a great way to get involved in the Japanese American community in Southern California, while networking with those of similar interests and roots.  We welcome anyone with an interest in Wakayama Prefecture to join our organization.

Membership is $10 per year.  Donations are welcome.
